Upon arrival of your cruise, our guide awaits you at the port identified with the Shorex.gr sign.
You will experience the picturesque way of life of the province of Crete and we will make our first stop in Korfi, where you can admire the city of Rethymno from an impressive view, as well as its Venetian Fortezza. La Fortezza, is the fortress of the city and was built by the Venetians in the 16th century (1573) to protect the city, which was conquered by the Ottomans in 1646.
After this first impression, we will head south and our next stop will be; Vatos Village , which is really our main point of interest. Vatos is located at 640m altitude and is well known in the area for its numerous walnuts. Here we will visit the local church “Agios Nikolaos” , its beautiful courtyard , the Raki distilleries (traditional Greek drink made from grapes), the square, a museum house based on its agriculture, a small authentic kitchen of the grandmother and the fountain, where they used to go locals to wash clothes and collect water to water their yards. We will continue to the old town school, where a traditional lunch (optional) * will be served .

* For those who do not choose this lunch option, they will have free time.

For those who decide to have lunch, they will taste the specialty of Crete, the ” Gamopilafo “, which means “wedding rice”; A traditional dish that is offered in many regions of this great island as the main dish of the wedding banquet and, consisting of meat and poultry accompanied by rice cooked in its own broth. The meat used in the Gamopilafo is, traditionally the lamb. Its preparation takes about 3 hours to cook. It is a simple and easy recipe, which avoids the use of overly complicated ingredients. The base of its flavor is in the high quality of the meat (fresh and local) and in the aroma of the butter that is used (made in a homemade and traditional way with goat’s milk).Your lunch will be served directly in a typical pot…. They will enjoy a real lunch in the schoolyard, in the most traditional way.
After lunch we will go to the town of Spili  which is approximately 15 minutes away, to see its Venetian fountain composed of 52 mouths of irrigation in the form of a lion’s head and also, we will enjoy some free time to buy souvenirs. Then we will go to the village of Labini (Lampini),  to visit a local Byzantine church dating from the eleventh century and that was burned by the Turks in 1829.
